Battalion: 11th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

He was born at Ilkeston, Derbyshire and lived at Arnold, Nottinghamshire. Son of Charles and Selina Chamberlain of York Terrace, Furlong Street, Arnold, Nottingham. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Hucknall, Nottinghamshire, Went to France on 27th August 1915 and was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, in the attack on the German positions at Ovillers, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
