Born at Pinchbeck, Lincolnshire and lived at Bungay, Suffolk. Son of William and Elizabeth Cawthorn, of Upwell Road, March, Cambridgeshire. He was a farm servant prior to enlisting at Lincoln, He was killed in action, 20th October 1917, at Gouvey Farm near Boesinghe, Belgium.
