Born and lived at Nottingham. Son of George Henry and Phoebe Cawthan, of 37 Brown Street, Blue Bell Hill, Nottingham. Husband of Edith Morley (formerly Cawthan), of 4, Clarence Terrace, Clarence Street, Carlton Road, Nottingham. He was the music hall keeper at the Nottingham Empire prior to enlisting 6th September 1914 at Nottingham. He went to France 28th February 1915 and was killed in action, 6th April 1915, whilst serving in the trenches near Lindenhoek, Belgium.
