Born at Ilkeston, Derbyshire. Son of Frank and Lucy Cave, of 45 Mill Street, Ilkeston. He was a barman at the Railway Inn, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire, prior to enlisting at Ilkeston. He was killed in action, 21st March 1918, whilst holding the line near Noreuil, France on the opening day of the German Spring Offensive or (Kaiserschlact)
