Born and lived at Skegby, Nottinghamshire. Son of Henry and Emily Caunt, of 34, Vere Avenue, Stoneyford Road, Sutton-In-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire. He was a colliery worker above ground prior to enlisting at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, on 10th November 1915. He was killed in action, 30th August 1918, aged 21, whilst serving in the line near Gorre, France.
