Born and lived at Newark, Nottinghamshire. Son of Thomas and Eliza Catley, of 105, Mill Gate, Newark. Husband of Annie Catley, of 47, Side Row, Beacon Hill Road, Newark. He was a iron moulder prior to enlisting at Retford. He was killed in action, 26th September 1917, whilst serving in the line at Hill 70, Belgium.
