Battalion : 11th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born and lived in Nottingham. Son of Thomas and Caroline Castles, of 49, Arnold Road, Old Basford, Nottingham. He was a hosiery trimmer in a bleach factory prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He was killed in action, 9th April 1917, age 21, in the attack at Hill 60, Belgium.
Commemorated : Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium. Panel 39 and 41.
