Lived at 5 Thornton Terrace, Pleasant Row, Radford, Nottingham. Son of James and Mary Ann Castledine, of 11 Lambert Street, Hyson Green, Nottingham. Husband of Elsie Castledine, of 25 Midway Street, Old Radford, Nottingham. He was a self-employed fish fryer prior to enlisting on 7th October 1914 at Nottingham. He went to France on 28th February 1915 and was invalided to England on 7th March 1916. He returned to France on 13th August 1916 and was killed in action, 17th October 1918, in the attack on the German line near Regnicourt, France.
