Private Richard Thomas Castle

Battalion : 2/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Ramsgate and lived at Eastry, Kent. Son of Richard James and Alice Louisa Castle, of Woodnesborough Lane, Eastry, Kent. He was a farm labourer prior to enlisting at Canterbury, Kent, 8th January 1917. He went to France 28th March 1918 and was transferred to the 2/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 20th March 1918. He suffered shrapnel wounds to his chest and died, 13th April 1918, aged 19, at No.2 Canadian Casualty Clearing Station, Remy Siding, Belgium.
