Lance Corporal Richard Cartwright

Battalion : 1/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Bretby, Derbyshire. Son of William and Harriet Cartwright, of 14, Grotto Row, Medway, Burton-On-Trent. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting 9th August 1915 at Derby. He went ot France on 13th May 1916 and was appointed Lance Corporal on 2nd November 1917 and was killed in action, 11th December 1917, age 22, during a raid on 3 lines of German trenches at St. Elie, France.
