Battalion : 1/8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born at North Muskham, Nottinghamshire. Son of Charles and Agnes Cartwright, of The Grange Cottages, Hawton, Newark, Nottinghamshire. He was employed in malting at Taylor’s of Newark prior to enlisting 9th November 1914 at Newark. He went to France 28th June 1915 and was killed in action, 30th August 1915, aged 20, whilst in the line near Hooge, Belgium.
