Born and lived at Oldham, Lancashire. Son of William and Sarah Jane Carter, of 11 County Street, Hollingwood, Lancashire. He enlisted at Hollingwood and was killed in action, 24th May 1918, during the attack at Villers-Bretonneux/Bois L’Abbaye, France.

Buried : Adelaide Cemetery, Villers-Bretonneux, France. Plot 1, Row A. Grave 3.
