Private Charles Carter

Battalion : 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born Hednesford, Staffordshire and lived at Cannock, Staffordshire. Son of William and Serena Carter of Old Fallow Road, Blackfords, Cannock. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. He served in Gallipoli during 1915 and was killed in action, whilst serving in the line near Maillet Mailly, France. during the Battle of the Somme.
