Born and lived at Bury, Lancashire. Son of Peter and Sarah Ann Carroll, 54, Badger Street, Bury; Husband of Edith Carroll, of 19, Topping Street, Bury, Lancashire. He was a railway shunter prior to enlisting at Bury. He died of wounds on 7th August 1917, aged 35.
