Private John Thomas Careless

Battalion : 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born and lived at Heanor Derbyshire. Son of William and Elizabeth Ann Careless, of 7 Midland Road, Heanor. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He served in Gallipoli during 1915 and was killed in action 4th October 1917, in the attack on the German positions near Poelcappelle, Belgium.
