Born and lived at Longton, Stoke-On-Trent. Son of Ralph William and Anna Maria Cantrell, of 27, Kildare Street, Florence, Stoke-On-Trent. He was machine pottery mould runner prior to enlisting at Longton. He went to France 23rd December 1915 and died of meningitis at Myland Hospital, Colchester, Essex, 21st June 1916, aged 20.
