Born at Orpington, Kent. Son of Frederick and Frances Canfield, of 1, Beechtree Row, Wellington Road, St. Mary Cray, Kent. He was a farm labourer prior to enlisting into the 28th Training Battalion 1st March 1917 at Bromley, Kent. He went to France 31st October 1917 and was posted to the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 5th November 1917. He died of wounds 12th December 1917, aged 19.
Buried : Longuenesse (St. Omer) Souvenir Cemetery, France. Plot 4, Row F Grave 22.
