Son of Mr and Mrs John Callaway, of Palmeira Avenue, Hove, England; Husband of Millie Callaway, of Umtata, South Africa. He was a Missionary Priest in the Diocese of St. Johns, Kaffraria, in charge of Holy Cross, Pondoland, South Africa. Formerly Royal Army Chaplains Department, he was posted to the 3rd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment 21st September 1915 and went to France during 1915. He joined the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment 14th April 1916 at Beau Maris Camp, Calais, France and was killed in action, 13th September 1916, aged 44, during the attack on Arrow Head Copse near Guillemont, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
