Born at Camberwell, Surrey. Son of George Buyford, of 28, Chard Road, Peckham. He was a greengrocer prior to enlisting on 2nd January 1902 at New Cross, London. He served in China, Hong Kong, Singapore and India. He went to France on 4th November 1914 and was killed in action on 5th July 1916 in the attack on the German positions at La Boisselle, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
