Battalion: 11th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Nottingham  Son of John Henry and Sarah Jane Buxton of 69, Beaconsfield Street, Hyson Green, Nottingham. He was a brewer’s labourer prior to enlisting on 6th August 1914 at Nottingham. He went to France on 24th May 1916 and was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, aged 19, in the attack on the German positions at Ovillers, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
