Private Archibald Butterworth

Battalion : 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Ainsworth, Lancashire. Son of Mary Elizabeth Sagar, of 80, Bury New Road, Ainsworth. He enlisted on 10th December 1915 at Radcliffe, Lancashire, went to France on 1st March 1917 and suffered a gunshot wound to his right shoulder on 2nd October 1917. He was treated t No. 3 Canadian General Hospital, Camieres, France and transferred to England on Hospital Ship[ Princess Elizabeth, 12th October 1917. He was transferred to the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 1st April 1918 and returned to France on 3rd April 1918. He was killed in action, 19th September 1918, aged 37, in the attack on the Quadrilateral, near Holnon, France.
