Born at Gedney, Lincolnshire. Son of William and Emma Butters, of Tongue End Spalding, Lincolnshire; Husband of Mary Ann Butters, of Council Houses, Tongue End. He was a farm labourer prior to enlisting at Spalding, Lincolnshire. He died of wounds, 6th November 1918, aged 33.
