Battalion: 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Son of Thomas Butchart, of 4, Mortimer Place, Dundee, Scotland. Husband of Ellen Butchart, of 45 Arbroath Road, Dundee. He was a stonemason prior to enlisting on 10th November 1915 at Dundee. He was transferred to the Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 11th January 1917 and was posted to the 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 2nd February 1917. He was killed in action, 16th August 1917. whilst serving in the line near Zillebeke, Belgium.
