Born in Warwick, Warwickshire and lived at Leicester. Son of Charles and Jane Bustin, of 210, Curzon Street, Leicester; Husband of Elizabeth Emma Bustin, of 123, Halkin Street, Melton Road, Leicester. He was a tram conductor prior to enlisting on 1st December 1914 at Leicester. He went to France on 15th May 1917 and was transferred to the 16th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 10th June 1917. He was awarded the Military Medal, London Gazette Date 14th, January 1918. For gallantry during the attack at Bulgar Wood on 20/21st September 1917. Killed in action on 21st March 1918, aged 37 during a German bombardment by high explosive and heavy gas at Sorrel Le Grand near Longuval, France, on the opening day of the German Spring Offensive or (Kaiserschlact)
