Battalion: 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Keyworth, Nottinghamshire. Son of Samuel and Elizabeth Burton, of Main Street, Keyworth. He was a farm labourer prior to enlisting on 21st June 1913 at Nottingham. He went to France on 11th November 1914 and was killed in action, by German shellfire,  6th March 1915, whilst in the line near Houplines, France.
