Son of Solomon and Annie Maria Burton, of 3, Bridge Street, Derby Road, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Chesterfield. He went to France on 16th March 1915 and was awarded the Military Medal London Gazette Date 16th August 1917.  He died of wounds, 24th July 1917, age 20.
