Son of John and Sarah Ellen Burton, of 119, St. Saviours Rd. East, Leicester. He was an engineer prior to enlisting. He went to France on 2nd March 1919 and was admitted to 47 General Hospital, Bonn, Germany, on 19th May 1919 suffering from laryngitis. He was transferred to England on 7th July 1919 with fibrosis of the lungs. He was admitted to Bermondsey Military Hospital, Lewisham, on 9th July 1919 where he died on 22nd July 1919, aged 18.
