Born and lived at Draycott, Derbyshire. Son of George Henry and Harriet Burton, of 70, Market Street, Draycott. He was a Grocers Errand Boy prior to enlisting 5th October 1914 at Nottingham. Went to France 28th June 1915 and suffered gunshot wounds to his left thigh 5th October 1916. He was admitted to No. 43 Casualty Clearing Station, Warlincourt, France, 9th October 1916 and died of wounds, 11th October 1916, age 19.
