Lance Corporal Harold John Burton

Battalion: 2/5th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Son of Henry and Frances Taylor Burton, of “Charnwood”, 88, Nottingham Road, Long Eaton, Derbyshire. He was a house furnishing shop assistant prior to enlisting on 5th November 1914 at Long Eaton. He went to France on 26th February 1917 and was appointed Lance Corporal on 19th May 1917 and was killed in action, 26th September 1917, age 29, in the attack on Otto Farm, near Gravenstafel, Belgium.
