Battalion: 1/8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Son of Aaron and Sarah Burtoft, of 1 Goyt Terrace, Chesterfield. He was a farmworker prior to enlisting at Chesterfield. He was killed in action, 26th September 1917, age 28, whilst serving in the trenches, in the hill 70 sector near Mazingarbe, France.
