Born at Freemantle, Hampshire. Son of Frank Loosemore Burt and Annie Barbe Louise Burt, 300, Winchester Road, Shirley, Southampton. He was a student prior to gaining a commission with the 14th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, on 2nd April 1915 and went to France on 29th May 1916. He joined the 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, on 8th June 1916 and was killed in action on 5th July 1916 in the attack on the German positions at La Boisselle, France, during the Battle of the Somme.
