Born and lived in Nottingham. Son of Samuel and Sarah Ann Burrows, of Nottingham. Husband of Jane Burrows, of 47, Garden Street, Radford, Nottingham. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He died, 19th September 1918, aged 29,  at No. 3 Casualty Clearing Station, Beaulencourt, France. 

Buried : Thilloy Road Cemetery, Beaulencourt, France. Row A., Grave 23.
