Born at Belper, Derbyshire and lived at Milford, Derbyshire. Son of Joseph Robert and Florence Hannah Burrows, of Belper, Derbyshire. Husband of Jessie Burrows, of Stirton Grange, Skipton, Yorkshire. He was a clerk at a cotton mill prior to enlisting into the Duke of Wellington’s (West Riding Regiment) and went to France 14th April 1915. He gained a commission with the 1/6th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 25th April 1917. He was killed in action, 1st September 1918, age 26, in the attack at Richebourg, France.
