Born at Nottingham and lived at New Sawley, Derbyshire. Husband of Lilly Burrows. He enlisted at Nottingham and served in Gallipoli during 1915. He was killed in action, 26th September 1916, in the attack on the German positions near Ovillers, France during the Battle of the Somme.

Buried : Pozieres British Cemetery, Ovillers-La Boisselle, France. Plot 4. Row D. Grave 16.
