Private Harry James Burrows

Battalion: 1/5th & 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born at Bacton, Suffolk,. Son of Thomas and Kate Burrows, of Finningham, Stowmarket, Suffolk. He was a labourer prior to enlisting on 15th February 1916 at Bury St. Edmonds, Suffolk. He went to France on 11th July 1916 and suffered gunshot wounds, on 13th March 1917. He was admitted to the No.3 General Hospital, Le Treport, France 16th March 1917 and transferred to England on Hospital Ship, Donegal, 16th April 1917. The Hospital Ship was sunk by a German torpedo on 17th April 1917 and Private Burrows was reported missing believed drowned, aged 29.
