Private George Walter Burrows

Battalion : 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Renishaw, Derbyshire. Son of Albert Edward and Lucy Ellen Burrows, of 77, Scarsdale Road, Woodseats, Sheffield, Yorkshire. He enlisted on 26th August 1914 at Eckington, Derbyshire. Went to France on 11th December 1914 and was wounded in his back before being transferred to England on Hospital Ship St. David, 9th January 1915. He returned to France on 21st April 1915 and was killed in action, 16th September 1916, in the attack at Guillemont, France during the Battle of the Somme.
