Private John Burns

Battalion: 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born at Grantham, Lincolnshire. Son of John and Mary Burns; Husband of Mary Carroll (formerly Burns), of 22, Midland Terrace, Stapleford, Nottinghamshire. he enlisted at Derby and served In The South African Campaign. He went to France on 4th November 1914 and was killed in action, 22nd March 1915, age 33, whilst serving in the trenches at Pont Du Hem, France.
