Private John Burns

Battalion : 7th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Merton, Surrey and lived at 13, Clifton Place, Newton Barr, near Wakefield, Yorkshire. Son of James and Hannah Burns, of 25 Nesbitt Row Alfreton, Derbyshire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting 4th July 1917 at Wakefield. He went to France on 2nd April 1918 and was killed in action, 15th April 1918, during a German attack at Kemmel, Belgium.
