Private Henry Burns

Army Number : 109015 (formerly 60972, Manchester Regiment)

Battalion : 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Whitehaven, Cumbria. Brother of Margaret Kennaugh, of 43 Scotch Street, Whitehaven. He was a farm servant prior to enlisting 29th May 1917 at Carlisle. He went to France on 30th March 1918 and was transferred to the 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 4th April 1918. he was killed in action, 27th May 1918, whilst the Battalion was ordered forward to the Aisne line. Then in retiring fight to Montagne de Guyencourt, France.
