Lance Corporal John Leonard Burnell

Battalion: 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Somercotes, Derbyshire. Son of William Henry and Emily Burnell, of Moss Farm, Alfreton, Derbyshire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Nottingham. He went to France on 29th June 1915 and was killed in action, 23rd March 1918, during the German offensive near the Maricourt road, France.
