Born at Ruddington, Nottinghamshire. Lived at Old Brampton, Chesterfield. Son of Samuel and Violet Burman, of 5, Florence Street, Hazel Grove, Hucknall, Nottinghamshire. Killed in action, 1st July 1916, aged 20, during the attack on Gommecourt, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
