Private Preston Burley

Battalion : 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

He was born at Lincoln. Son of Richard and Emma Burley, of 321, Grantham Place, Grantham Street, Lincoln. He was a labourer prior to enlisting 21st October 1910 at Lincoln. He went to France 11th November 1914 and suffered a shrapnel wound to his right ankle 9th August 1915, he was treated at the 10th Casualty Clearing station at Abeele Belgium. He was transferred to the 8th Stationary Hospital at Wimereux on the 11th August, where he died from Tetanus 15th August 1915, aged 26.
