Private William Burkitt

Battalion: 1st Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born and lived at Chesterfield, Derbyshire. Son of William and Sarah Ann Burkitt, of “Hady View,” Station Road, Chesterfield, Derbyshire. He was a brass turner prior to enlisting at Chesterfield. He went to France on 16th March 1915 and was killed in action, 10th April 1915, aged 22, whilst serving in the line near Rue De Biache, France.
