Born and lived at Codnor, Derbyshire. Son of Ferdinand and Eliza Ann Burgin, of Cross Lane, Codnor. Husband of Lucy Burgin.  He was a coal miner prior to enlisting at Ilkeston, Derbyshire. He died on 7th July 1916 from wounds received at La Boiselle, France during the Battle of the Somme.
