Battalion : 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.

Born at Dowlish Wake, Somerset. Son of Edward and Elizabeth Burgess, of Forton, Chard, Somerset. He enlisted at Cardiff and was killed in action, 9th August 1915, age 22, in the attack at Ismail Oglu Tepe, (Chocolate Hill), Gallipoli, Turkey.
