Born at Beeston, Nottinghamshire. Son of Emma Burdett. Brother of Mr W. Burdett, of 4, Broughton Street, Beeston, Nottinghamshire. He was a press worker at Raleigh Cycles, Nottingham prior to enlisting on 31st August 1914 at Nottingham. He went to France on 17th May 1916 and was killed in action, on 1st July 1916, aged 20, during the attack on the German positions near Ovillers, France, on the first day of the Battle of the Somme.
