Born and lived at Barnet, Hertfordshire. Husband of Verina Clark (formerly Burch), of 3, Mill Corner, Hadley, Barnet, Hertfordshire. He enlisted on 29th September 1914 at Barnet. He went to France on 19th December 1914 and was transferred to the 2nd Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment, 28th October 1917 and was killed in action, 19th September 1918, age 33, in the attack on the Quadrilateral near Holnon, France.
