Corporal George Bunker

Battalion: 2/5th Reserve Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment.
Born at Millbrook, Bedfordshire. Son of Joseph and Mary Ann Bunker, of 28, Millbrook Village, Bedfordshire. Husband of Annie Bunker, of South Normanton, Derbyshire. He was a coal miner prior to enlisting on 28th January 1886 into the 1st Battalion Bedfordshire Regiment. He served in Africa during the Boar War from 16th April 1900 to 1st May 1901. He was discharged on 10th July 1901. He re-enlisted 23rd March 1915 at Derby into the 2/5th Reserve Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derbys) Regiment. He was promoted to Corporal on 17th July 1915. He died of asthma and cardiac disease at Grimsby Military Hospital, on 7th June 1916, aged 47.
