Born at Swarkestone, Derbyshire. Son of Maria Bull, of Duffield Road, Allestree, Derby. He was a gardener prior to enlisting on 23rd November 1915 at Derby. He went to France on 26th February 1917 and was killed in action, 21st March 1918, whilst holding the line near Noreuil, France on the opening day of the German Spring Offensive or (Kaiserschlact)
