Born in Ipswich, Suffolk and lived at Higham, Suffolk. Son of Joseph William and Ellen Bugg, of Hoxne, Suffolk. He was a domestic gardener prior to enlisting at Boston, Lincolnshire. He went to Gallipoli on 1st July 1915 and was killed in action, 9th August 1915, age 23, in the attack at Ismail Oglu Tepe, (Chocolate Hill), Gallipoli, Turkey.
